The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is home to many laboratories in varied research areas, in locations across campus. All research areas use the extensive computing facilities available, including two clean rooms, an undergraduate laboratory, and a DSP "Elite" laboratory.
The Abercrombie Engineering Laboratory is home to the ECE administrative offices, as well as some faculty offices, graduate student offices, and laboratories. Duncan Hall, designed to allow for shared resources among engineering departments, houses faculty and graduate student offices. It is also home to the Center for Multimedia Communication, situated in the Texas Instruments Wing. Faculty and graduate student offices and laboratories can also be found in Brockman Hall for Physics and George R. Brown Hall.
The Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen (OEDK) provides a space for undergraduate engineering students to design, prototype and deploy solutions to real-world engineering challenges. Senior Design utilizes this facility.
The EtherNest, located in Abercrombie Engineering Laboratory, is a maker-space supported by Texas Instruments. It has prototyping facilities for projects both in-and-out of coursework. A student leadership team is responsible for EtherNest, and hosts monthly design projects open to students of all majors and backgrounds.
The Bill Wilson IEEE Lounge is located in Abercrombie Engineering Laboratory. The space is a lounge and study area for undergraduate students. The lounge is named for the late Dr. Bill Wilson, former resident associate and master of Wiess College.
